Can you share a little more information about these containers? Are they permanent fixtures attached to the building or can they be moved? When was the soil last changed, if at all? Are they in the full sun, or otherwise? And what is your general location?

Thanks for responding. They're not attached but very large. I have no idea when the soil was changed because I just started on this Committee. I plan to change the soil in the spring time. They're in partial sun.

The soil is too hard to plan anything now so I was pretty much looking for some evergreen cuttings, etc that I can just stick in there to add some color until the spring. I'm just not sure which evergreens would survive the longest. Also, I would really love to add some winterberry stems but I don't have any and I don't know anywhere I could get some.
