That's funny deco....the first thing I thought when I saw the lamp was "needs a drum shade" Not too fond of the chain (maybe if it was bronzed or brushed stainless?) but I like that lamp. Not something you see everyday.

These seem to be old posts that Emily is loading - all dated 6 months ago. Is that usual? Don't know whether to take them seriously or not.

The lamp is from the '50's and I welcome your savvy suggestions for changing the colour of the chain and love the gorgeous covers!

I LOVE your swag lamp - very hip and chic.
What's old is new again. All I would do is add a tone on tone damask pattern to the drum shade.
Or add a soft glazing to it in hue of gold/silver.
Or, you could add string to it - quite a bit of work, and needs to be very precise to look perfect.

you may have an opportunity to also do this: a) change out the chain for a metal tube with wire inside, or b) buy a fabric chain cover made out of wall color-coordinating fabric. Diminishes the chain cord look which always distracts from a hanging globe or custom such as yours in the posted picture.

I would go with a shirred fabric chain cover, very easy to make yourself.

What makes them interesting is the chain, precisely. I have four of these hanging at home and they look gorgeous with their chains and all. Mine are all glass.
