help with my Wave Petunias

I have 4 hanging baskets with different colors of wave petunias. My problem is that that are long and spindly. Some I've seen at others houses are full and full of blooms. Should I prune them back heavily to encourage bushy growth, should I fertilize more or what? Thanks for the help. Joel

You are on the right track. Petunias almost always need a good sound pruning at this time of year. Be brutal in your pruning, and they should come roaring back for a second round of new growth and blooms. Fertilize with caution so that you don't encourage the growth of foliage at the expense of blooms.
