What about something more simple for the interim like GLUING it back in? I sure won't come out. Of course, this will only work if the tufting did not come out with the button.

Thanks fife2.Nothing came off except the button. I sat on the chair too many times with buttons on my pants and I finally by accident pulled it off. If I glued it on, it would look funny and you could tell something was wrong with the button, besides I don't want to ruin it. Thanks for your comment though. :)

Yep - you need the upholsters or perhaps a SHOE repair shop - sometimes they will do this for less. I know they repair luggage.
