White Icicle Daikon

Planted some of these back in December and forgot what I planted. Plants grew big and lush and then threw up stalks that made me think that I had planted some rapini. Cut a couple of the stalks and sauteed them with some sausage for some pasta. They were splendid.

After the big storm we just got, went out and was looking through the garden and noticed that the plants were pushing up from underneath with some white root showing.

"Hmm, those must be daikon since I swear I planted some"

Pulled out some beautiful foot long daikon radishes that have wonderful flavor.

This was the first time I grew them but it definitely won't be the last. Very versatile, like many brassicas since the greens are delicious and you are left with a great root as well.
