These were 3 1/4" wide solid oak nail down wood floors. There is a light hand scrape with the grain. The color was a mixture of ebony and antique brown. We use Duraseal stain and generally make up 6 to 8 samples for the customer to choose from.

The wood's grain and the inherent color effects the final floor color. Most of the time we are around 50/50 or 60/40 antique brown to ebony. You can see the base colors offered by duraseal here:

The finish coat is an oil based finish. We have bounced back and forth between watrr based and oul based finishes. I think the oil base might add a little more warmth to the finish, but it takes much longer as we do 3 coats - 1 coat every 24 hour. That is 3 days total where the wood floors cannot be walked on.

Whereas the waterbased finish dries extremely fast. You can almost do all three coats in one day. However, when using waterbased finish you really need to pay attention because if you get any pooling or streaking and you don't catch it right away it will quickly dry like that.
