I use a variety of methods for drip irrigation in pots. It depends on what kind of plant is in the pot.

For small pots, a trade gallon and down, I use individual emitters, placed right next to the plant. It doesn't really matter if all the soil in the pot gets wet, as long as the plant's root zone does.

For larger pots, I use a sprinkler called "Shrubbler" with 8 streams of water and an adjustable spray range. It's output looks like the one in your photo.

For very large pots, with one or more plants, I use a loop of soaker hose or a loop of drip hose, formed with a junction "T" fitting.

For seeding flats and seedling trays, I use overhead misting nozzles.

For large multi-plant planters, I use lengths of 1/4" soaker hose and 1/4" drip hose with 1/2-gallon emitters every 6". These are set up to radiate throughout the planter, and are terminated with goof-plugs.
