It is about a normal amount but yes you can add more if you wish. Dig them up elsewhere or even buy them online.

What your bait store sells are nightcrawlers, not garden worms. And yes there are many different types as the article I linked above explains.

Why pay to add more? According to a long-time GW member(kimmsr), five per shovelful of soil indicates healthy conditions. They'll reproduce as long as you keep adding more organic matter. I've read that sprinkling cornmeal encourages propagation.

Adding more can't hurt, but I also have extra compost.

Mabye ill just add that

Take some kitchen scraps and put in a few holes, not the ones for your plants. This will attract worms to your beds and ecourage them to breed in the beds. they .like news paper too. I tear it in strips and put soil over it so it stays damp.

I suspect adding earthworms is a losing proposition. They breed fast if the conditions and organic materials are there. Adding them if the conditions are not will lead to lower survival and breeding. The end result will be exactly the same.

The way to get more worms is to add more organic material. Ten per shovel sounds fine.
