flowering trees in containers

Hello.

I just got a few magnolias (stellata, loebneri), dogwood (cherokee chief), and ornamental cherry/abricot trees (mume, subhirtella) - I intend to keep them in containers for a while. I have experience with maples in pots - and I have read through the recommendations by Al and others as regards soil mixes.

Are there any special considerations with these flowering trees anyone knows about? Some just came balled and burlapped - probably just dug up. I usually repot late winter/early spring but shouldn't I pot the B&B trees now? or is it safe to keep them in the B&B state?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
