Need Fertilizer Help

Hi,

Warning...These are total newbie questions.

I'm pretty new to vegetable gardening. I grew a couple of tomato plants and a couple of pepper plants in containers last year. I think I only fertilized once or twice with quail manure and the peppers did well but the tomatoes did OK (they got attacked badly by hornworms and never grew very big, but I did get a few tomatoes). I have expanded to a larger garden this year. I'm growing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, lima beans, Okra, bok choy, radishes, squash and onions right now, all in containers in potting soil.

I'm having trouble figuring out how often to fertilize and with what? Everything is yellowing and I'm pretty sure it is lack of fertilizer.

What I have at home right now is an organic vegetarian all purpose fertilizer (I was told the vegetarian one was less likely to get eaten by my dogs), quail manure and fish emulsion. Is any of that appropriate for the plants I have? Or do I have to go buy something else? How often would I use it.

A couple of weeks ago, I used some of the all purpose fertilizer and watered it in. It's the granular type I guess. Yesterday, I watered with a little quail manure diluted in water. I'm hoping that greens things back up. My parents have a quail farm and my mom used to have a garden. I think she only used quail manure on her garden and it was always huge and green. I only had a little left but will be visiting them in a couple weeks and can get more. Anyway, that's what I started doing after not fertilizing at all until how and really have no idea what I'm doing.
