My potatoes are in a box (4'x6') and growing very fast, but they are growing at different rates - will I kill the short ones if I load the dirt up to the top of the tall ones? Also, do you cover them or leave the tops out? I'm using really old horse stall scrapings (dust, 2 yr old dried out poop, some shavings, some dirt) and some hay, so it's relatively light / loose packed. At first i could just cover the ones that were growing more, but now that they are a foot or two high I have to cover the whole thing to keep the tall ones covered. Will I kill the littler ones?
