I've had a number of apple grafts fail me- but if you keep at it you'll get it.

You might find it worthwhile to read the entire thread; I think you could do worse than to try the search I plugged in to get this info:

Konrad, I've always thought your grafts to be beautiful, and probably beyond my skills! So I have instinctively shied away from them.

But when I study your photographs of the method more closely I think I see that it is actually quite straightforward, and probably lends a measure of mechanical strength to the joint. Very nice. I think I will try it that way this year, with the only difference being that instead of using electrical tape and wound sealer I will wrap with rubbers and follow with parafilm. (I do always put a dab of sealer on the cut end of the scion just to help prevent drying.)

I have a question about that for you (and others) but I'll start another thread for it.

Sure...
Sealer is fine on the end, more important on the graft itself, the nice
thing about my method is that with heaving two cuts on the scion, [first picture] one parallel [main cut] and one on angel, the scion fits snug to the stock....so the sealer can not run down into the graft.....verses when you have only one cut [taper], there is a hollow space and sealer can into the graft.
