Tomato problem

My tomatoes are finally coming on the plants and are about the size of a golf ball, some are a little larger. I just picked two green tomatoes off of the plant because they both have large black holes around the stem of the tomatoes. The holes are sunken in at least a quarter of the way down into the fruit. It kind of looks like mud got in the hole and dried, but it is not mud. The rest of the fruit looks beautiful and if you saw it from the bottom you would never know anything was wrong with it. I have had blossom end rot on the bottom of the fruit, but never remember this problem with the top. Any clues to what this might be?
