So I planted some trees 2013 spring. I had a So Jujube that promptly dropped its leaves and did nothing. I scratched the wood in the fall and saw zero green.

Today I was doing some gardening with the wife, and lo and behold the So started leafing out at the base. Of course, I hope it isn't grafted, as I have no way of telling what the rootstock is.

But I was just telling my wife that I was going to yank it up and plant something else there. I had even pulled all the mulch off in preparation for the pull. How often does a tree not leaf out for a whole year, then wake up?

I also had 2 pomegranates that I yanked up, and now I'm wondering if i was too hasty. The Asian persimmon did nothing, and now is the first thing in my garden to break bud, even before the mulberry tree?

Maybe there should be a 2 year waiting from planting time to see if something takes?
