Just another sad gardening tale. I'm in southern Indiana and had great success last year with butternuts. Didn't even fertilize or water, they just happened. When I gardened in Arizona we had very similar happenings. Hang in there and plant stuff that trives is Texas.

I'm growing Melonette Jaspee de Vendee squash, which is supposed to be a 3-4 pound pumpkin-looking fruit. My vine is green and fairly vigorous, and does have one fruit that fits the description, but the first one I harvested is the puniest looking thing and doesn't even make the 1 1/2 pound mark. I'm in California where we get no rain in summer, but it's been unusually cool this year (San Francisco bay area).

3-4 pounds? PFFFFT!!!
