problem with blackberry bushes

we have wild blackberries here which I didn't see at the time I purchased a blackberry bush from the nursery 5 years ago. the blackberry bush I purchased never produced berries the right way. The berries that set are are just a few seeds on it instead of the whole berry. while the wild ones make the whole berry but they are hard berries and not juicy. I took some blackberrys from a friend of mine a couple of years ago and hers were taking over her yard and they were HUGE berries. so I transplanted some. those are doing the same thing, only a few seed thingies for the berries, not a whole berry. SO, is this a soil thing? is my pH or nutrients not right? I haven't fertilized them. but I dont' know if it is a fertilizer thing or a pH thing (our soil I believe is quite acidic and blueberries naturally grow everywhere on my lawn...) OR is it a problem with cross pollination of the wild berries? and how do I get rid of the wild ones?
