Unless you are growing something over the winter you will be wasting fertilizer. If it needs lime, it should be added in the fall.

Agree. Lime or wood ash now, and nitrogen in one to multiple shots in the spring, depending on the vegetable. Peppers and tomatoes need two, corn needs it in continuous smaller amounts. Beans need no nitrogen.

That's kind of what I thought, that it would be a waste to fertilize now. Thanks for your advice.

Does the same advice (fall application of lime) apply to sulpher?
