If you really think it has a virus, get rid of it. But I know nothing about this virus.

Me personally....I would pull it out and throw it in the fire pit and spray bleach in the hole. Might not help at this point. But who knows.

How long has the infected bush been there?

Shock virus won't kill the plants, or do any permanent damage. It's a really weird virus, in that the year the plant is infected, you'll think it's a goner. The leaves and flowers will shrivel up and turn brown, then a few weeks later the canes will leaf back out. Sure, you'll loose the crop that year, but all years after that (and all of the new growth on the plant) the plant will grow normally. If your bush has, let's say, four main canes, and only one gets infected this year, those other three canes can become infected and show symptoms in following years. However, the cane that was infected this year, and ALL new growth on the plant, will never show symptoms.

There's no way to get rid of the virus once it's infected the plant, and it will always carry the virus (so can therefore infect other plants through pollen transmission). There's also not much of a way to get rid of the virus completely once it's infected an area. Really, it's not that much of a big deal, since it's not lethal and there is only one year of crop loss. Commercial growers just hope in infects the plants as early as possible, because there is less overall loss when the plants are small and aren't producing much fruit anyway.

Scorch virus produces almost identical symptoms to shock, except that it IS lethal (so infected plants should be immediately removed) and it's spread by aphids.
