As far as bells go, Ace (hybrid) is a long standing favorite in cold climates. They're "medium" size bells, though...decent sized, but not those huge ones you'll see in the supermarket.

The "Hot Pepper" forum has more than a few Canadian (and cold climate) growers over there and it acts as the default sweet pepper forum, too. Some there may have some good ideas.

I had very good results with "King of the North" and "Islander" (even though that last one sounds unlikely). Don't let my zone number fool you. My climate is very maritime and subject to dense summer fog many days. Average highs are in the low 70's--if we're lucky.

I grew both (along with "Millionaire" eggplant--another winner) under a PVC frame covered with floating row cover. Worked like a charm--but you have to look out for the aphids (or at least I did).

I grow "Stupice" tomatoes, too. I know exactly what you mean :-)

It almost sounds like my area steve_in_los_osos. Like the other pepper nc-crn suggested, the ones you suggested aren't on territorial or westcoastseeds. Which company do you buy it from, Johnny seeds?
