Once it turn blush it should be able to ripe on a counter.

Most of these are very green. Only a few are showing any start of a blush.

Wow that's a lot of fruit, good for you. My newly planted fuyu came with one fruit and fearing deer would eat it, I took it down and placed on kitchen sill. It ripened and it was yummy!

Yeah, I often pick them when they are just starting to turn color and they ripen on the window sill. I would always be trying to get to them before the squirrels. This year is the largest amount of fruit I've seen on this tree. This is only from one branch. There is so much more. Now I see I should have culled some of the fruit before it matured. Some of the lower branches are touching the ground. I can't reach the fruit on the top branches anymore. And I had the tree pruned by professionals this past winter!

Hope your one persimmon turns into many in the years to come! That's certainly what happened to me.

If you want them to ripe sooner then place some in a brown paper bag and throw in a couple of apples and close the bag.

I'll try that Tony. I put a banana in each bowl and left them overnight with towels over them. Time to look for some big paper bags - and apples.

for the second time in three years, squirrels and birds ate every one of my persimmons when they were still green. What can i do? pick them solid green and take my chances?

This year I covered each persimmon (I only have 5!) with copper cloth that is used in abating rodents. Hopefully, it will help! It is a mesh tube that comes in a roll.

Set traps for squirrels. I am using metal mesh bags for mine now. But they're not cheap. Curious about the copper cloth/tube that comes in a roll. I'll have to look that up. Can you post a link for it? It comes in a 'tube' on a roll? That would be ideal. I can't seem to find the product online.
