Lawn mower won't start!

Lady brings in the dirtiest looking walk behind mower--said it won't start! So, i made out a tag, and hung it on the handle bar, and she left. I looked at it this morning! UGH and double UGH! it was so dirty, i thought it would be junk, but no, i cleaned it up installed a new air filter cartridge, and several pulls made it run. As it started, i thought i heard a long, drawn out sigh! And, i changed the oil too. Needed it, it hardly ran out when i tipped it up on its side. Sharpened the blade, and its good to go.

wow I am suprised it had any oil in it and it didn't knock when you got it to start. Sounds like another one temporary brought back from the DEAD.... Got job Rusty

Thanks! The air filter was so dirty, no air could get thru it. And, the oil was coal black. Surprisingly, the blade was fairly sharp, but i did tweak it a bit. Runs well now. RJ

And then, a man from a local church brought me a Craftsman self-propelled, walk-behind lawn mower. Said it wouldn't start-at all. Checked it this morning. Gas full, oil fairly clean, air filter DIRTY, Looked "rode hard and put away wet!" Tried it--got no response-nothing. I'll try again when i can get to it. It is a donation, so it might become a parts supplier.
