Mint-like, but Not Mint-y

We (two professional gardens, and one garden enthusiast homeowner) were perplexed by this plant, growing in Philadelphia suburb to the north.

Homeowner does not remember what it is. We had assumed it was a mint due to square stems and minty appearance. Plant is growing in the herb garden, homeowner said "it is not mint." which prompted lots of sniffing & tasting. It doesn't smell or taste like mint, scent and taste is mild, not unpleasant, but nothing like mint.

None of us remembered flower description or flowering time from prior years.
