Pick up one or any of the colors in the granite and do a glass mosaic or railroad tile. (2 x 6") for instance. Could even pull in the wall color which looks like a blue, mixed with the granite colors, again in glass. Could be awesome. .

I actually have a sample board at home now of glass tiles .My wall colour is Brandon Beige(BM) i was thinking of using 3x6,or 4x18,solid glass tile that is the same shade as the wall,and there is streaks of it in my granite to. The granite is so busy,I'm worried that a mosaic will make it look busier,,but also don't know if straight glass tiles may look boring,,this is my first reno,also,should the glass tile be flat or shiny ?

If your kitchen is as traditional as the one in the photo, I would suggest a ceramic tile in a hue pulled from the granite or a natural stone with gray undertones. Sonoma Tilemakers, for example, as a variety of accent tiles that could be mixed in for interest. I agree that a mosaic with a great of variation could be overwhelming in combination with the granite and typical glass mosaics are too contemporary here.

If you have a busy granite, is it better to have a solid color tile match the granite or the color in the cabinets? I've been really stuck with what to do too. My granite is ice white and my cabinets are white. Thank you sooo much.

I too am wondering the same thing? What to do my backsplash in with bianco antico on counters and island?

I like the white subway tiles that a lot of people are doing these days. Some sheen but a solid color that won't be too busy. I also like to see the same granite as the back splash. I'm getting ready to reno my kitchen and don't know exactly what to pick with all the options. I love Bianco Antico and Alaskan White and White Diamonds....I can't even decide on what granite I want...oh dear.

We ended up doing white subway tiles with our ice white granite and white cabinets. It looks really beautiful. Just what I wanted. I love the solid white. Everything I put on the counter looks beautiful against the white tiles. I definitely think that granite on the backsplash also would have been way too busy. We did end up putting granite on the kitchen window sill too. It's was a suggestion from our granite installer. It's wonderful. Great for setting window plants on and very easy to clean.
