This is my first pond. Yesterday my lotus opened a new leaf; today the old leaf has brown edges.

In addition my water lettuce is looking really rough. I'm in zone 9b, the pond is full sun, 300 gallons with 2 baby Koi, if that makes a difference.

Hi VirginiaWhine. Methinks your water lettuce is scorched. It prefers full to partial shade. Can you give it some shelter from the burning rays?

Yes, I can put it in one corner that only gets morning sun. I did take all the dead leaves off, carefully making sure I didn't harm the new growth.

I've found pics online about my lotus & think it's because I had not fertilized it yet. The edges are beginning to curls, which from what I've read, means it's not receiving the right nutrients. I did put a tab in the basket for it. Hope the next shoot I see forming does well.
