If the modern furniture in the staged model is too formal for your taste, I can't imagine you would be happy with the much more formal and traditional table with white chairs. The two table styles in your poll are complete opposites. So either go with the acacia wood or look for another less formal table. My two concerns are that not everyone likes to sit on a bench, and since we don't know what the rest of your furniture looks like, it is hard to make a decision out of context.

One more point. Both tables are larger than the one shown in the model. Make sure you actually have the space for a larger table before buying either. I can't tell from the picture if the room has more square footage in other directions, but if they have staged it with a small table that would seem to suggest there might only be room for that size.

Another vote for the Acacia wood table set, or something similar to it. You can always swap out that lamp for one that's more industrial/rustic style. http://www.houzz.com/photos/products/rustic-pendant-lamp

Definitely the Acacia wood WITH the bench. I just got a new set with a bench and absolutely love it. I would also think about changing out the mantel for something more modern.

I actually both tables. What about building a banquette on the wall under the mirror? I think it would be very cozy with the fireplace placement.

I like the mantle. It reflects the red tones in the fireplace. Before I would buy a dining room set, I would sit on the chairs and see if they are comfortable. Your guests will want to be comfortable, and they'll be more concerned about comfort than appearance. I would also consider finding a dining room set that matches the color of the mantle.

I'm really not a fan of either option that you picked with the fireplace and current lighting, the bench style dining table is too 'campy' (great for a cottage, looks like an veranda dining set). The second option is more formal (you didn't sound like you were interested in formal). Also with the second set, it doesn't really match the theme of the room currently. Assuming you are not changing the tile or lighting in the dining room, I would stick with the staged set if possible.

Your fireplace and mantel are warm tones and the staged dining set ties in beautifully. The acacia set appears to have cool undertones to me and would not connect at all with the fireplace. The other choice is more formal than the staged set and the color doesn't tie in either. Stick with the staged dining set or something more rustic but with similar warm tones. It's so inviting.
