Sheer Bliss

I've been contemplating adding Sheer Bliss to the garden.

It sounds like a nice rose from what I've read.

Any info and pics are welcome, to help me decide. I'm especially interested in the fragrance.

Krista, I grew Sheer Bliss last year, unfortunately my plant did not make it due to neglect due to human error! (I had a crazy summer and the garden got very neglected). It did bloom once and from what I remember it was very fragrant. I really loved this rose and will probably replace it when I have more room.

It is a very beautiful rose Krista! It is one of my mom's favorites. She always has a Sheer Bliss. A gorgeous one too, the coloring is so pretty. It is also very fragrant!

I too, would love to know more about Sheer Bliss. I had a plant several years ago, but it didn't make it through a mild winter (for Wisconsin). Can anyone comment on its winter hardiness in zone 5?
The few blooms I did get to see were very nice, and I'd like to try it again.
    Thanks so much

Sheer Bliss is not very hardy, in my experience. I had 10 plants and all were killed in a bad winter even with winter protection. If I would have planted the bud unions below ground, they might have survived.

I also could not detect much scent. Maybe the scent would have improved in the subsequent seasons. Maybe growing it next to Fragrant Cloud and Double Delight made it seem non-fragrant. Who knows.

With that said, it is beautiful and produces an impressive number of flowers on long stems. The flower form was always flawless.

I had one which died over the winter. I loved it so much I bought another one which came to the same fate. So I guess it is not terribly winter hardy. But in those days, we never used to winter protect. I think that one in particuar is very susceptable to winter kill. Now that we do protect, I really would like to try a third one, :) It is very fragrant to my nose and the form of the flower and gorgeous demure colouring is breathtaking.

I've grown this beauty off and on over the years. It will overwinter in my zone, but can suffer from cold damage if we have an early/late freeze. I had one overwinter for many years as a large potted rose which I brought into my unheated garage over winter. When you see those porcelain white blooms and smell the fragrance you can see why she deserves this special care. Her name says it all.

    Thanks, everyone, for the info.

Gives me some things to think about.

Very fragrant for me with beautiful coloring. It blows open very quickly though so it's not good in a vase.
