The root looks scary. Why don't you vegetation killer. The weed was sending me to the mental institution until I PUT MY HANFS on strazecide vegetation killer. The only ones I still pull by hands are those who decide to grow very close to the vegetable roots.

it looks like english ivy. we had some old giant clumps, with large roots like that. every piece of root will try and come back. multiple doses of roundup on the new growth finally killed it.

This is not English Ivy (Hedera helix). Ivy doesn't have a root like that, is not herbaceous ie does not'pop up' and does not have hirsute leaves and stems.

Here's a crazy question: is the top of that plant actually attached to the root/tuber....or did it just come from the same location?

Also, aside from letting us know your general location, how about give us a size estimation of this root.

It is something in Cucurbitaceae. Without adult foliage, flowers, or fruit and location, we are not likely to solve this. Kendra has not replied to this post or the Weed Forum post about location or other traits.

I had hopes after another webpage led me here, but to no avail. I live in middle Spain; the "carrot root" is white, 15 mm in diameter 10 cm long. Pulling it up caused it to immediately wither.
