Kerosene/Diesel forced air construction heater.

I have a combination kerosene/diesel forced air construction heater. I have been running it on kerosene for a couple of years. Can I now fill it with #1 or #2 diesel? If so, do I need to do something to clean out the tank or clear any remnants of the kerosene, or can I just add the diesel to the tank that had the kerosene in it?
