I have one. the serial# 12143849 The model# I can't find. I need repair/owner's manual for it. It came with a NEW, never used pto chipper shredder that I have NO use for. The receipt on the chipper from Garden way reads $825.00 It weighs a ton. So, shipping would be impossible. I live in the Youngstown, Ohio area. Any help is appreciated.

Ok. This Troy tiller is an 8 horse Kohler Serial Number 12143849 Does anyone have any idea when it was built? I'm just curious.

That serial number 12143849 doesn't jive with any
known serial numbers. The number should be stamped
on a flange on the transmission housing by the right
wheel.
If you want to sell your chipper i would be interested but only if its a great deal

So the serial# of the tiller is identical to that of the engine?

You can go to the Kohler website and download the service manual for that engine. In the first couple pages, it shows how to decode the DOM.

A Kohler K series with 12143849 would be 1982.
