I know this will be heartily condemned by all you brain-washed society safety freaks out there, but I removed the chain brake spring from my 460 Husky because.
1. It causes a hesitation when you hit the trigger often when doing brush clearing. The saw runs better without it.
2. The concept that a chain brake is a big improvement is greatly overstated because if you can't hold onto the handle, you need to see a doctor to check on why you have such a weak grip. Also, the guard is still there, and to have your hand slip onto the chain while it is running would be difficult. At my advanced age, I've never lost my grip on the danged things. I do wear gloves impregnated with anti-slip plastic but only because I use them for most manual work anyway.
The more manufacturers improve things, the more unreliable and expensive they get.
BTW, I heat entirely with wood and unlike suburban lumberjacks I use my (five) chain saws a lot. Only two of them have the chain brake anyway.
Frankly, I've decided that except for a lighter weight, my new Husky 460 isn't much better than my old Homelite 360 or two Homelite super XLs
