thanks for the link canguy---i saw that one but the color is wrong----my saw is blue and white----maybe the color was different sometime prior to 1968?

I am curious about the red/white unless Mike was describing the Remington copy. Earlier Homeys were red/green. Blue/white was common until about 1970 when they went to solid red.I have an XL-12 which is virtually identical to yours but slightly less power.

thanks again--i appreciate your help----i guess i thought the saw was older than (1968?)---i remember my dad using it when i was around home----wish i could trace by serial number----saw in excellent condition but been sitting many years.
