rain barrel platform?

I'm hoping you can help; not sure which forum to turn to.

I intend to put in a 275 or 350-gal IBC plastic tote in a metal frame as a rainbarrel, fed by two gutters. This tote will be set right up against my house, in the angle formed by my newly-rebuilt front porch. Question: the soil there is clay, disturbed last fall from the construction, and sloped pretty sharply away from the house (which is not keeping water from getting into the foundation at that spot).

The guy selling the totes says they don't need a platform, since they have a pallet built in -- just several pressure-treated 2 X 8's placed to distribute the weight. But last I calculated, that much water weighs close to a ton. Would I be better off with a concrete platform several inches thick to even the load, keep water out from under the area, and keep that big puppy from potentially doing a nosedive into my front garden? If so, how thick? The 350-gal totes are 48 X 39 X 54" tall...

Thanks!
