Homelite chainsaws

I was given two homelite saws an XL 12 and an XL 924

can anyone give me info on these. recommended gas mix,replacement parts.They both run fine after some general clean up. will using 50:1 mix hurt the engine? I don't intend to use them much.

Doug: 50:1 with Premium Oil is optimal . As for replacement parts Scott at the Chainswr site is very fair and honest . You can check out Baileys or the Arborist site and his is a Sponsor .

50:1 using synthetic is probably OK, but Homelite recommended 32:1 in their manual for both saws. That said, 2 cycle oils in the 1970's were almost exclusively petroleum based.

gg : 50:1 is more than adequate with TODAY'S Premium Oil's.
I would probably (with this saw) in my garage be running 70:1 cutting Canadian Maple (Green) . Don't mix (consider) Mineral Base Oils of the 70's with (todays) Premium Oils of the last 5-10 yrs Syn. or not even close to what is relevant to what 32:1 was 40 yrs ago lol .
