Bare Root Roses

I like Hybrid T roses mostly highly fragrant varieties.

I am cheap and buy mostly Bagged roses from HD, Wally World K-Mart etc. I usually get 90% or more yeild. Which is good enough for me. In Florida I had more than 100.

I just put in my first garden in North Alabama Zone 7. About 20, some won't be good for my area and I will replace when I see what grows good or not. I put 14 in 3 weeks ago and all but 3 have large buds on them. One has 3 blooms.

My question is I wanted a few that I couldn't find locally. Like a Dolly Parton. So for the first time I ordered bare root roses, 6 of them. They took 5 days in transit and were wrapped in wet newspaper with water crystals. So they were moist. I soaked them in water for about 30 hours. I planted them yesterday. They do not look good compared to packaged roses. Most have some green on the cains but some very little green. How long do I wait befor I decide they are dead? What are your experience with bare root roses?
