Based on the info - sounds like the neighbors are just going to replace the dog(s), as they disappear... Why didn't you guys just give the neighbor to the farmer ... and perhaps try to train the dogs a bit ?

Around our area - annoying disturbances after 8pm fall under the realm of disturbing the peace. Repeated phone calls to the authorities after 8pm generally end up with the bad guys explaining their situation to the local court system.

The really strange thing about the whole situation is that the people where the dogs are chained up claim that the dogs are not theirs and that they don't know what to do with them.

May be tonight if the people are not home again, the other will go to a re education camp too.

Find him a better neighborhood to live in, far far away.

Why people like this insist on owning animals and then refusing to give them even basic care is beyond me. Why the Sheriff's office feels that they have to turn a blind eye to it is also beyond me too.

Sounds to me like a caper is what is needed . And I love a good caper to set things right ! Those poor animals are being abused and many a dog slips out of it's CLOSED collar and runs away never to be found again by it's negligent owners . Just saying .

Many years ago, I had the same problem with a neighbour's dog. It barked all night long and neither my wife or I could get any sleep. I finally had enough. Shortly after midnight, I went over, untied the dog, loaded him into my van and dropped him off at the dog pound in the city, 30 miles away.

Problem solved. They never got another dog and my wife and I got our sleep.

that's the problem about living in red neck country, few rules of city ordinances apply. you've got to get out far enough where no neighbor is close enough to bother you!

Some people are sentive about there animals even though we think they aren't keeping care of them. Even in town dogs bark, that's why most people get them. He** most out in red neck land let them run loose. Just beware when you come on somebodies property uninvited you have to face the fact of there actions and the law swings in there favor now.

As my opinion What my neighbor's do is there business as long as it don't spill over into my yard. Funny thing about Noise it only bothers us when sombody else is making it.

We are now into the beginning of the 4 day of almost continous barking. The people have not been back and we have seen no one tend to the dog that is left.

In the past, the dog or dogs barked intermitently or continually if we were out in our yard. Now it just dosen't stop. It wouldn't be quite so annoying if we could not hear it inside the house almost as well as when we are outside.

I would go down and get this one too and relocate it to another and better neighborhood or the humane society, but two dogs both gone in the same weekend seems to broach credability.

I will probably have to wait a week or two for the next removal.

I just wish we had a noise abatment or nuscience law to enforce. We have nothing.

if it don't have water call the sherriff. I would think they would do something about the animal if it's not being fed or watered.

The sad but true fact is that the Deputy that was here the other night told me that they would do nothing. The dog has water as we have had continuing rain for the past 3 days and it is still going on now.

The people just came home about 30 minutes ago. We will see.

I would call them and just inquire what your options might be.

The dog is barking because it's scared. The next time the neighbors are gone for two days call the ASPCA. I'm guessing the people are using it for a bugler alarm.

Without a doubt I would dognap the poor lab when they're gone, then take it to a shelter at least 50 miles away. Do it for the dog.
Throw your shoes away after the act, so they can't trace your footprints. Or better yet, wear really big shoes so they look for some 7' tall dognapper.

This is no joke. Our neighbor has two very large dogs, which bark the second she lets them out every morning at 6:00am (even on Saturdays and Sundays). Waking up at 5am all week, it would be nice to sleep in a little on the weekend, but this person has denied us that liberty. She was gone Saturday through Sunday, and left them out. They barked all night long. We barely slept. It's amazing; I can barely hear airplanes flying over my house on their base leg to the airport a mile away, but the deep, hollow WOOOOF! of a great dane booms right through my R-19 insualted walls. I can't imagine dealing with that every night. I'd have to take some vigilante action if it ever came to that. We've called animal control several times, they can't do much beyond providing education of the local regulations.

So what do you do about cats? The same dog propblem neighbor replaced her husband with a dozen cats when he left her. They've torn up my other neighbor's deck carpet, pissed all over our patio furniture, and all around the permiter of my house. They crap in the landscaping, my dog is attracted to it like a cheeseburger, eats it, then comes in the house and licks the kids. I confine my pet to my property; I don't think I should have to put up with cat crap in my flowerbeds, or cat piss splattered on my siding. My good neighbor has been trapping them, got two so far, but the worst offenders are too smart for fall for some sardines in a cage. Believe me, the thought of shooting them has crossed my mind, but I'm not in the mood to get convicted of felony animal cruelty when one of the neighborhood kids sees me take one out.

This is public enemy #1, and it runs when I open the door.

What would you do?

I think that I would use a video camera with a "date" feature on it and every single day, I would record the "invasion" of the cats pissing and crapping all over your place. From that point, I would contact an attorney. In law, there is a section regarding your right to "quiet enjoyment" of your property.

Armed with 30 days of evidence, I don't think that any court would agree that you are capable of having the quiet enjoyment of the property you own and pay taxes on. I don't think that you should go for damages. Instead, I would go for a restraining order against her and her pets.

The beauty of a restraining order is this. If you video one of her pets coming into your yard again, then all you have to do is call the cops and show them your copy of the Order. They are duty-bound to enforce that Order. If you can satisfy the cops that she is still allowing her pets to roam outside the confines of her property, then the cops have no other choice but to arrest her for contempt of the Order.

She will be required to appear in court to explain why she breached the Order. While the judge might not jail her the first time, he may impose a fine. If she continues to defy the Order, he will send her to the slammer for a few days just to teach her who's in charge.

No one should have to live next to someone like that and if you can get the other neighbour to do the exact same thing, then the two of you can jointly take action against this woman. And that would simply strengthen your case and cut your legal costs in half. Perhaps other neighbours may wish to join in. When this woman finds out just how many of you are against her, then she'll either move away or remedy the problem.

The key here is documentation, documentation, documentation. You absolutely must prove that the offending animals belong to her and that they are using your property and others as their toilet. Run it past an attorney and get guidance.

We had problems with some really smart raccoons a while back. Drove the neighbors crazy as well as myself... Garbage cans open up and down the road...

A friend of a friend of a friend put out an an mostly empty tin of tuna fish - and a bowl of anti-freeze to wash it down ...

the solution to the cats is to get a dog and leave him outside 24/7!

The solution to the dog(s) is to call the ASPCA and explain the situation. Get the name of someone you can call back.

Then check the dog every day. The first day you see them with no water (or green disgusting water) call back your contact and the will come and serve witness to this. They may give the owners a warning, in which case you wait till the next time there is no water and call again.

As much as I love dogs I do not like barking and do not allow my dogs to do it (or if they do they come inside).

marineguy, the fastest way to teach a cat to stay away is an airsoft gun. teh plastic BBs will sting enough to make it leave, but not do permanent harm. after a few days of it, he won't come back.

to the OP, i would call the ASPCA on them not the SO. if they leave the animal with no food and only rain to get water, that is neglect and they WILL take it from them as well as fine them. the 1st time they take it they may get it back, but after that they won't. i don't recommend removing the dog yourself, if you get caught YOU go to jail.

my neighbor behind me has 12, yes 12 dogs, that mainly roam free. he loses 1-2 a month to cars, but just gets a another one. all night they bark, but luckily they are 250 yards away and we don't hear them in the house unless the windows are open. he puts about half of them in a pen each night after he feeds them, and they bark at the others who roam free. i have seriously considered shooting a couple of the more aggressive ones, but the only reason i have not is that they are his grandkids dogs and i cannot do that to a 6 year old and a 4 year old.

Our county is so rural that there is no ASPCA, the neighboring county does have one, but they will not come across the line.

Any way, the problem seems to have resolved itself. We had blessed silence last night, after the people got home last night, they did something with the dog and I haven't seen or heard it all day, today. Perhaps the owner of the campground finally got through to them that this was unacceptable.

One can only hope, at least one of the dogs has gone to a new and better home.

Barking dogs - man you hit my hot button.
I live in the city where we have a "barking dog ordenance."

It does not mean anything. The city prosecuter said they won't have the cops do anything unless I can get a petition signed by 4 neighbors that the barking dogs are a problem.

I love dogs (well behaved dogs and not yappers). I have had 4 and NONE of them were barkers. The golden I have now is such a sweetheart, even though he lost his eyesight recently.

DON'T GET A DOG UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO KEEP IT INSIDE THE HOUSE WITH YOU. That is where any good dog wants to be - with you. You won't believe how great your dog can be if you keep it inside and give it some attention and training.

I love all the "dog lovers" crying over some dog that was keep outside and than poisoned by some desperate neighbor and they never blame the stupid dog owner.

Dogs that bark whenever the wind blows are not good burgler alarms. The neighbors have long ago learned to ignore them.

I often wonder if these "neighbors" think their barking dogs don't bother anyone or do they just not care?
