i get free perennials all the time from work. one of the perks about working at a wholesale nursery. when stuff is going to get dumped because it has not performed well, i snatch it up and put it in the ground at my house. my big scores for the summer were dozens of monarda and tall garden phlox of all colors. lucky for me they look great planted together. i also got a bunch of red lobelia which i don't have a place for, nor the liking, so anyone in the western nc region can hit me up for some free plants.

Nothing free but some really cheap humidifiers from the Goodwill store for my GHs. :)

Good score, Rosepedal! I've gotten free plants and gravel through Freecycle and by curb-shopping when people are changing landscaping. If I see guys digging, I hit the brakes.

As far as free greenhouse stuff...only thing so far is a faucet I pulled out of my neighbor's trash, and it will go on a small sink. My husband wishes I could find more greenhouse stuff for free! :-)

Our local ReStore is good for nearly-free stuff too...got some of my rubber-covered closet shelving there for nearly nothing.

I didn't get my greenhouse until after I changed careers after working in horticulture for over twenty years.

all those tropical plants that I tossed or gave to others could now be in my greenhouse. Woe is me.

Isnt that always the case. When you need it you have already given it to someone else. I wish I would have known about this site earlier. My neighbor had given me a bunch of refridgerator racks but I couldnt think of how to attach them until I read all the posts. Free plants wow! lucky lucky.........
