I always pull trigger on wand until engine gets up to speed and pressurer rises before allow pressurer to build by releasing trigger in cool weather takes long for engine run off choke when cool. Pressure potoff works best if run a little to get all air out just garden hose bleeding air never works on mind what air left even small amount the pressure spring on unloader valve. I know need three hands to do this way but be safe it'll work.

Try holding the trigger on the wand down or have a helper do it and be careful where you point the wand. I do this when mine is cold or hot, makes it a easier to pull the starter rope.

Also with the helper holding the wand, you can try pushing the choke in slower.

Every piece of OPE has a starting/operating "combination"that needs to be figured out and it can be frustrating at times.

I have to hold the trigger down on my ridgid 3000psi to start it either cold or warmed up. When I start it cold, I pull the trigger and pull the cord. Once its running I move the choke to half way or off depending on the outside temp. Once its running at full throttle, I let off the trigger and let it warm up for a minute and then start power washing. Took me a few times to figure out my pw.

The problem is that even though you prime the system by running water through it to bleed out the air, you can't spin the engine fast enough with the pull cord. The pump build pressure almost instantly and its hard for the engine to stablize its rpm on start up. Its like trying to start a manual car with the transmission in first gear and you foot off the clutch.

In addition to holding the trigger, I warm mine up with the "soap" noz installed. Puts about zero load on the engine.
