Isn't Excell gonna make it good since they admit an existing problem? I've got the 2500 Excell with no problems so far, but this doesn't sound good. Did you get yours from HD?

After two years they have NO intention of making good even though they know it is a problem! Yes it is from HD.

Who's pump is the original? You may or may not get a better pump with the AR. You have found out what Excell learned a long time ago, folks tend to judge the quality of a pressure washer by the engine, not the pump. A non-sleeved, bottom end, Briggs would outlast something like 5 of the wobble plate pumps used on these things, the Honda probably would outlast 20 of them. If this is a horizontal shaft engine, you may want to try to adapt it to a plunger pump.

I would agree the washer was given to me now that the pump is shot. And he did not know what he was buying cause Excell INCASED the junk pump with a plastic housing. It doe shave a Honda I/C horizantal shaft engine.

I can't get my Excell XR2600 to start. I've only had for 2 years. Bought it at HD. Now I'm at a loss. I don't think spending $425 for one and then using it only 4 or 5 times, it a good track record. My wife told me to just go buy a new one. What would be the since??

Well Excell did make good on my pump. The 1-800# directed me to a Excell dealer that rebuilt the pump at no cost!

Good for you, shortlid. Sometimes you just have to keep plugging at them to get anything done.

It looks like this has happened to mine also. the starter chord will not budge after 3 month of no use. What do I do?

Ex-Cell is now owned by Black and Decker. You need to find your nearest Black & Decker repair center and see if they can speak to Ex-Cell about it and repair it for you.

It has become normal for the manufacturers to use disposable pumps to keep the price low. Consider installing an Upgrade pump that will last as long as the engine.

My pressure washer came with an AR SJV series pump on it, after about 50 hours of run time the ceramic coating on the pistons began to chip off. After each use I always shot in pump saver so I don't think PM was a problem. Plungers were about $70 with seals another $30 so I opted to replace the whole pump with a Cat 3DX29GSI which ran about $200 for the pump and another $50 for thermal relief valve, pressure gauge and larger spray tips. I had to re-drill the engine mounting holes in the washer's base plate for clearance but that's no biggie. The pump was just bolt on.
Bottom line here is that IMO the pumps are the weak link and I'm better off keeping a good engine while upgrading the pump instead of buying another new engine with a crappy pump on it.
With my experience I sure looked for solid ceramic plungers instead of stainless or ceramic coated.

Now I'll have to let time tell the rest of the story.

When looking for a replacement pump ceramic,Stainless Steel & ceramic are all ok. It is very rare for ceramic coatings to chip off. What you want to avoid is chrome plated pistons. But there is far more to look for besides the type of piston. What is the warranty and what kind of support will you get from the seller or manufacturer.
