Handheld Blower Recommendations

I'm looking to spend $150-$200 on a pro quality hand blower. I live in a suburban lot with a lot of trees and own a newer 5hp little wonder blower that I use for my larger areas of grass. I got fed up last year while trying to manuver the little wonder around flower beds and such. Also, it's way too powerful to do a quick cleanup of the walk after I mow, and just makes more mess in many instances.

So I was planning on getting a stihl, something like a BG-65, but then I realized that Husqvarna came out with the 125B for about $150. I have used several echo pb-200s, and have always ended up dissapointed. I also own an echo weedwacker, and have not been all that impressed. I would consider some of the japanese makes (shindaiwa and redmax) as well.

Most of the dealers in my area are sketchy, and will try to charge me extra for even warranty work, so dealer support isnt really a factor in making this decision.

Any advice or experiences are appreciated.

I can comment on two blowers - the Stihl SH55 and the Shindaiwa (don't know the model but it was a CA handheld). My experiences reflect the CA models.

The SH55 has enough power for what I need it for. From your description, it sounds like your needs and mine are similar. My only gripe is that it has been harder to start than my other 2 or 4 stroke machines. It is not impossible, just a bit finicky compared to my Shindaiwa trimmer and mowers. The Stihl is kinda loud too, but I wear ear protection.

I did get to give the Shindaiwa handheld a spin. It was nice. Seemed to have more power and started easily. BUT, it was considerably more expensive. I forget how much, but it wasn't insignificant. I've been told by others and by people on this board that the carb on my SH55 is junk and that's the source of the more difficult starts. I found it is something I can live with though.

While a bit out of your price range I bought a Stihl BG85 2 years ago and it is a great team mate to a Little Wonder. It has a lot of power for blowing. Don't get the vac kit for it. The bag fills quickly and its not that great suction wise. My other complaint about it is that my dealer closed up shop this year. :(

Stihl BG85 is the only choice. Best handheld blower in terms of power. It blows like a smaller backpack unit. Outruns the BG55/65 and Echo 200 by a substantial margin.
