I bought a used 6 hp Horse this weekend. It came with an owner/repair manual, a master parts catalog and the sales and manufacturing documentation.

It was made in 1975 and the serial number is 183686. The book lists a 7hp kohler as an option, model #k161, specification #281148j or #281181.

But there are a lot of numbers between your serial number and mine. I don't have any idea how many years that might be, could be many changes over the years. Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful.

I only have acess to files at yahoo groups club they only go up to year 1992 1993 numeber and above are not in list so if helps its 1993 are newer. The MTD web site give a lot info for model use just number 1 and your serial number should download to something of interest.
