Just bought a stihl ms270 C-B 3 weeks ago, which does not have the easy2start system, and find it easy to start. According to the dealer you put it in high choke and pull up to 5 times until it tries to fire, you then put in in low choke and pull and usually starts on that pull or the next. You then move the choke to run position. After that and it is warm it will start in the run position on the first pull.

According to Stihl, the Easy2start system, you can start with 2 fingers, apparently the pull winds a spring and when you release the cord the spring engages and turns the motor. If you typically had issues or a difficult time pulling a pull rope I would ask you to visit a dealer and have them demonstrate it for you, that would probably help you with your decision.

Never used one, but if you can't start a regular chain saw, I don't think you'd be able to handle a chain saw when it is running. It sounds to me like more complexity to get in the way & break down later.

I’ve been searching for an opportunity to comment on the Easy2 or Ergostart. I’ve used a Stihl HS86C blower for two seasons with satisfaction. It hydro locked this spring and the cord failed to retract. Once disassembled I found that Starter spring deformed. Everything was in a bind. With research I discovered I’d been too hard on it when starting. “Pull slowly to engage” and a slight wrist pull is all it takes.
So I replaced the spring; then failing to clear the hydro lock. I ruined the new spring with that one easy pull. I replaced the deformed spring again, cleared the hydro lock and ruined a second new spring with one easy pull.
Maybe too late to say “Long story short” but I learn that Ergostart crap can be replace with a one piece rope pulley at half the price of my first replacement spring. Problem solved.
I’d stay away from the “Easy Start”.

Hope , you repaired the cause of the hydro lock , most likely a defective carburator inlet needle valve .
