baseboard molding and trim

My wife and I are buying a home from a builder in Little Elm, TX and though its a quality builder their price point is low, so the finishes arent as nice as some others. We are going to do some renovations after we buy to customize the home more toward our taste but one thing Im not sure about is replacing ALL baseboard molding. The molding that comes with the home is very thin and traditional and We want an 1 x 8" thick craftman style molding thats a bit more modern. (Dont worry we are using simple white spinddles instead of rod iron and having banaster painted white as well) How much would a job like this in a 3000 sq ft home cost? and is it advisable?
