I have not seen a Pro Tree Trimmer with less than a Pro grade Stihl. I have used two Mid Grade Poulan S25s since the mid 70s cutting 2-4 cords most seasons. IMO, Care & Maintenance is a key issue with Mid Grade and Up. I feel low quality saws are for light occasional work even with good care and maintenance.

What are your past experiences, with what saw, how long and approx cords a season??

My only experience in adult life is with a couple of Poulan's one of which ran well when I used it for occasional pruning, etc it started easy but with us having 5 acres (about 1/2 or more wooded) I need a dependable saw to use.

Take Your Time, Even If the Tree Is On The Ground. I have been very lucky after seeing all the unexpected a tree can do or cause. The Brands/Models of saws have not been as dangerous IMO as the trees (but can be).

A Echo CS400 or a Dolmar 401 or 402 are the best saws by far
