Depends on the door you get but usually they are the same on both sides.

I have the same question - I understand that the door itself can look the same. But it's hanging on the outside - and you move it along the track ON THE OUTSIDE. The view has to be different from the inside. And how do you close it from the inside?

Cindi you can buy recessed pulls for the other side so that they don't stick out and scratch the wall when the door opens. And it makes them look nice from the other side!

LOL ;-) -- I wish someone would just post some photos from the other room, so we could get an idea. I have searched for a view "from behind" as it were, and have come up empty also.

For the person who submitted the photos. Did you keep molding on the side where the barn door is on outside?

It must be cased because she has baseboards. Looks like these style doors are not made to be a tight fit.

I was thinking, because I am very interested in installing barndoors in a room that leads to the bathroom. I want to keep my baseboards to keep it somewhat homogenous abut for the back side of the doo to put slats on the side (It'll look like a really thick door until you pay attention to where the floorboards are.

The reason I'd like to do that is so that there is not a huge gap from the room into the bathroom, is that crazy!? Is there a work around for this that I am am not aware of?

I'm a little confused. I am making my own barndoors, for my HOME THEATER. I''m using1"x6"x8', but if I want the doors to look the same from both sides won't it be to thick? ALL the boards will line up vertically & then I have the top,bottom & middle horizontal. If I put the same horizontal boards on the other side it would make the door 2 1/4" thick. Can the door be that thick?
