The bark on the trunk and most branches of my Carlos apple tree have turned black and it has started to flake off.( looks like it's been burnt) It's about 10years old, 10 cm in diameter (trunk) and the fruit was always too small to eat. Is it black rot or fireblight. If so should I get rid of it. I'm worried about my mountain ash and cotoneaster hedge.
