If you want a straight tree there (without completely butchering that tree), you need to start over. If you have an approved tree list for your neighborhood, start there.

Yup. Start over. Your first clue its a disaster is the poles still around the tree. Sheesh. What a mess.

I did not know that people actually planted mesquite trees!!! The shape is funky but if you are into straight it is not going to happen with this one.

That looks like what a recent poster was trying to accomplish by tying trees to an arbor, except this one arched all by itself. I'm with Ken, cool looking tree, love it for what it is or start over with another tree.

IMO that thing is an eyesore but I am not one to see the artistic value in much of anything

prune anything that hangs down under the arch..

then add a gazing ball on a pedestal ...

or use it to grow a clematis.. though i surely dont know if such will grow where you are ...
