So I know I have hickories b/c my father cut down all the trees in the backyard one fall. I've wanted to try and salvage any seedlings and suckers and try and plant them again b/c I loved those trees when I was growing up.

Some of the suckers/seedlings are definitely hickories. How can I tell what they are. They all emerged this year from the grass...its amazing how resilient these suckers are! So I have one sucker w/ 7 leaves...I have 2 w/ 5 leaves and I have 1 small seedling with 3 leaves. I had never heard of a hickory with 3 leaves though. What do you think I have. I can provide pics later.
