My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

protection against heavy rains

I am thinking of purchasing a home with an atrium/courtyard in the center. How resilient are these designs to heavy rains?

The home is in Southern California.

    The key to having a successful atrium/courtyard is the drainage. Be sure to investigate what kind of drainage system is in place and if possible do calculations to see what the drainage rates would be for 10/100-year storms.

    You're very welcome. We use Civil Engineers for all our drainage calculations. Your best option would be to consult a local engineer for guidance.
