We currently have a beautiful Japanese flowering tree (I am forgetting its proper name this morning). It blooms with beautiful and fragrant star shaped blossoms which then drop all over the yard and make a mess. Then towards the end of summer it drops again only this time, hard, olive shaped seed pods and makes an even bigger mess. Then in the spring all the seed pods sprout weeds (or baby trees).

Because this tree is in a high traffic area I am ready to replace it with something a lot less messy.

The tree sits on the south side of our property between our house and our neighbors. There is probably about 20 feet between the tree and our patio/house.

I would love some tree suggestions! I want something that leafs out early, doesn't drop anything but leaves once a year (no birch trees! :-)) and grows quickly. Would also love it if it would grow tall enough to reach our 2nd story bedroom window to provide some privacy from the neighbors back yard but doesn't grow too tall.
