Even though we still have at least two feet of snow on the ground and another 12"-18" coming tonight, the skunk cabbage has emerged! I've been watching a particular area for the past two weeks where the snow seemed to be suddenly disappearing. I suspected the melt was due to the warming of the growing skunk cabbage. To my delight, this morning on my way to work I noticed the first beautiful spike had pushed through. Combine that with the first robin spotted earlier this week & you can't help but smile. . . spring is not far off now.
